Africas Program Team

Our history

The Africas Program emerged from discussions among young researchers at the intersection of three disciplines – social anthropology, history, and sociology – who sought to promote interdisciplinary research on Africa while facing three key challenges in France. First, the confinement of African studies within ‘Africanist’ schools, departments, and courses, unlike other regional studies that are more easily integrated into global approaches. Second, the limited recognition of and access to research produced on the continent. Lastly, the lack of spaces for exchanging ideas and developing collaborative, co-constructed approaches, particularly early-career researchers.

Our team

Our fellows

The fellows of the Africas program are young researchers who have already actively participated in the program’s activities. Selected primarily for their motivation, their belief in field research, and their willingness to fully engage in the program’s research activities, they contribute to the work and discussions of the various thematic areas structuring the Africas program.
