Zeina Moneer

Zeina Moneer

Zeina Moneer holds a PhD in Environmental Politics from Freiburg University in Germany. She has been a visiting scholar at several renowned international research institutions, including the Institute of Social Ecology in Vienna and the Nordic Africa Institute in Uppsala. In 2021, she was a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at the University of New Hampshire in the United States. She currently serves as a Visiting Research Fellow at the Nordic Africa Institute in Sweden.

Her research focuses on the intersections of climate justice, green transitions in the MENA region, humanitarian-development nexuses, climate-induced security risks in fragile and conflict-affected settings, as well as conflict management and disaster response.
In addition to her academic work, Zeina has extensive professional experience in the climate and development sector. She has worked as a Senior Climate Change Program Manager with multiple national and international NGOs and development agencies, where she led the design and implementation of a wide range of climate action projects across the MENA region and Africa.
