François Burgat
François Burgat is a political scientist and Emeritus Director of Research at CNRS. He was the principal investigator of the ERC program WAFAW from 2013 to 2017. He dedicated much of his research to conduct field-based investigation on Islamist movements throughout the Arab world. He has authored Islamism in the shadow of al-Qaeda,(U. of Texas Press 2008) and Understanding Political Islam (Manchester University Press, 2019).
