Fulbert Ngodji

Fulbert Ngodji is a PhD candidate in sociology at Université Paris Cité and affiliated with the Centre Population et Développement (CEPED – IRD & Université Paris Cité). His doctoral research focuses on the financing of Arab-Islamic education in Chad, which he analyzes through both local and transnational lenses as a means to reveal the diverse uses of religion in the service of non-religious interests, power dynamics, and symbolic influence strategies.

His work is part of a broader reflection on social reconfigurations in Central Africa, particularly in the Central African Republic, Chad, and Cameroon. He is interested in the geopolitics of Islam(s), the governance of public services in contexts of state collapse, sociopolitical crises and conflicts, as well as contemporary forms of religious education in the Sahel region.

He is also developing expertise in the analysis and evaluation of humanitarian action in the sub-region. In this capacity, he serves as a Central Africa researcher with the NGO International Crisis Group, where he works on conflict prevention and advocacy issues in fragile contexts.
