Pauline Brücker is a PhD student at CERI/Sciences Po and the CEDEJ (Cairo/Khartum) and affiliated to the Center for Migration and Refugee Study at the American University of Cairo (AUC/CMRS). She graduated in Political Sociology and International Public Law (Sciences Po), and currently works on the sociology of migration, focusing on asylum systems of governance and contentious politics in the Middle East and the Horn of Africa.
Her PhD adresses the process of shaping “refugeeness” as a legal, social and political feature, based on the case of Sudanese migrants in Egypt and Israel. This doctoral work is funded through a CEDEJ mobility grant by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
