Béatrice Garapon studied Turkey’s transition from one-party rule to democracy in the 1950’s through local politics. She taught courses on contemporary Middle East at the Ecole Normale Supérieure and at the National Institute for Oriental Languages and Civilizations. She also published several papers in journals such as Esprit, Anatoli and TV/series. Her current research interests include local politics, political anthropology and Turkish political parties.
