Ana Velasco holds a MA in Gender, Violence and Conflict from the University of Sussex in the UK and another one in International Law from the University of Granada in Spain. She is a graduate of International Relations at the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México.
Ana is an international fellow at Women In International Security (WIIS) and a researcher for the Noria Mexico and Central America Program. Her work focuses on the state response to political violence in electoral contexts.
Other areas of interest are the Women, Peace and Security agenda, particularly from a Global South perspective (she recently co-authored a report on its implementation in Latin American armed forces), and the gendered dynamics of violence in Mexico.
