Paul Grassin

Paul Grassin is a PHD candidate and ATER at the University of Paris Panthéon-Sorbonne at the school of political science. His research focuses on the relation between the State and poor township dwellers in Malawi, Southern Africa.

His doctoral research focuses on the presence, the work of the police in the township and their ordinary relations with the population, as well as the politicisation of the institution at ground level - it's relation with government and opposition political parties.

Trained as a sociologist, he conducts ethnographic fieldwork within two police stations, political party branches and among the youth of the townships.
