Lora Labarere

Lora Labarere is a PhD student in social and historical anthropology at University Toulouse 2 Jean-Jaurès (LISST-Cas).

She works on people of French descent in Argentina and Uruguay who try to reconstruct their lost connections with their original country and family. She relies on individual stories and memories in order to understand what is at stake in the claim to European heritage in Latin America, as well as in the transnational movements such claims entail. In line with the tradition of her discipline, and by adopting an anthropology of the near (anthropologie du proche), she places the issue of reflexivity at the heart of her work.
