Etienne Dignat is a Ph.D. student in Political Theory at Sciences Po. His work focuses on the ethics of war and negotiation with terrorist groups. He analyzes hostage-taking and the issue of ransom payment as a phenomenon combining ethics, diplomacy, law, and economics to assess the relevance of the practice in the current international context (“Paying Terrorists? The Ransom Dilemma”).
Etienne Dignat previously graduated a Master 2 in Literature (École Normale Supérieure LSH, 2014) and Public Affairs (Sciences Po, 2017). He was also visiting scholar at Oxford University (2018-2019) and Columbia University (2019-2020).
