Diana Cissé is a doctoral student in political science at the University of Ottawa under the supervision of Professor Marie-Christine Doran. Her research focuses on the comparison of social mobilizations against land grabbing linked to the establishment of special economic zones in Senegal and Colombia.
She is a member of the Observatory on Violence, Criminalization, and Democracy and coeditor in chief of the Center of International and Political Studies from uOttawa graduate student journal Potentia.
In 2016, she carried out field research in the humanitarian zone of civil resistance, Civipaz, located in the municipality of El Castillo in Colombia as part of her Master's degree. She is also a member of the Afro-feminist collective Filhas de Dandara. This collective organizes meetings in which literary works by Afro-descendant women authors are discussed.
