About the Mexico & Central America Program

Who are we?

Noria MXCA was born as the Mexico and Central America chapter of Noria Research, an organisation founded in France that brings together researchers, journalists, photographers and professionals committed to understanding security crises in different regions of the world and to developing innovative proposals with social impact. We want to redefine the analysis of violence and public security policies in Mexico through projects of attention, prevention and reduction of violence based on a unique methodology: document, measure and advocate.

Mission Statement

We approach security as a social problem that profoundly affects people’s daily lives, not only as a public issue to be addressed by the State. We are committed to building alliances with local and national organisations, to knowing and working with communities, and to understanding their particular context. Our critical methodology analyses security issues in Mexico and broadens the scope of our studies to include both affected communities and the wider public, always with a human rights approach and an intersectional feminist perspective.

Our vision

We want to be a reference in transforming the perception and approach to security, violence, drug policy and human rights in Mexico. We are interested in a future in which social problems are understood and addressed in an integral way, recognising the specificity of each of these issues.
