South Asia Observatory

Beside academic research, the South Asia Observatory provides expertise on contemporary issues, organizes academic events, and disseminates knowledge to non-academic audiences.
The South Asian subcontinent is undergoing major, complex and often intertwined transformations. This complexity calls for a multi-layered, multi-factorial, and transnational frame of analysis, which is the only means to better anticipate a potential destabilization of the region.
In accordance with the French government’s policy to sustain academic research through public funding, the Observatory receives funding from the Directorate General for International Relations and Strategy (DGRIS) of the French Ministry of Defense, and from the Institute for Strategic Research (IRSEM).
